The purpose of the group is to provide support for parents whose kids have multiple needs and many acronyms (PDD, ADHD, NVLD, SID, ASD, CAP disorders, etc.!) Parents like me, whose children need multiple therapies, appointments, school accommodations. It is exhausting, overwhelming, and way too isolating. Break out of your isolation and meet others who understand what it's like to live a life with a Spectrum kid, attend a meet up! I hope we can share resources and support, and have a little f …
This group is for fathers of children with Aspergers Syndrome (and PDD-NOS) to get together and share the unique experience of being a father of a child with AS, and to arrange recreational activities for the kids too. The reason this is designed for fathers specifically is that almost all of the support groups I have seen on this topic are for mothers, or are dominated by mothers. Parenting AS affects men in a unique way, and Aspie kids need male presence that meets their needs too.

I will be starting a group for fathers of children with Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Aspergers and any other related condition. We can meet once a month, twice a month. Leep Forward has generously donated their space for our meetings. I look forward to meeting more people who are either in the beginning of their journey to help their children, or years-in who can share their challenges and successes.
It's tough to be "different." It's good to have friends. Young adults with disabilities want and need social interaction and often find it difficult to interact with their peers. This group will plan social events and activities for the group where they can mix and mingle and enjoy each other's company, making new friends.
